What does private cremation mean?
Private cremation means your pet is cremated individually — alone, always — and the ashes that come home are solely theirs. There is no fine print behind that word. At Passing Paws, private means one pet, cared for on their own from the moment we lift them at your door to the moment we place their urn back in your hands.
Families sometimes ask how this differs from our other services. In a communal cremation ($249), pets are cremated together and ashes are not returned. Aquamation ($449) is a gentle, water-based alternative to flame. Private cremation is the choice for families who want their pet’s ashes home — and want to be certain those ashes are their pet’s alone.

The Cremation Identification Tag
How do you know the ashes are your pet’s?
You know because of the Cremation Identification Tag — a tag that is your pet’s alone and never leaves their side, so the ashes that come home can only be theirs.
At pickup, your pet receives their own Cremation Identification Tag — it belongs to them from that first moment.
The tag stays with your pet through transport and through the cremation itself — never set aside, never swapped, from the first moment to the last.
We built the process this way because we know the question every family quietly carries: is it really them? With the tag beside your pet the whole way, and your pet cremated individually, the answer is simply yes.

Everything is included in the flat $399
Private cremation is a flat $399, and that single price includes everything — the pickup, the tag, the urn, the keepsakes, and the hand delivery home.

There are no upcharges, ever. No weekend fees, no mileage fees, and no weight-based pricing — a parakeet and a 100-pound dog cost exactly the same. The price we quote on your first call is the price you pay. If you would like extra keepsakes for family members, an additional clay paw or nose print is $50 and an ink print is $35 — entirely optional. We accept card payments, Zelle, checks, and cash.
The homecoming
Your pet comes home by hand — never shipped
When your pet’s ashes are ready, a member of our team drives them back to your home and places them in your hands. We never ship ashes, and we never hand them to a courier — your pet is one of a kind, and their last trip home deserves the same care as every step before it.
Hand delivery is included in the $399. Ashes typically come home 2–3 weeks after pickup.

Witnessed cremation is available by request. Some families find comfort in being there for their pet’s cremation, and we welcome that — call us at (626) 340-0000 and we will arrange it together, at whatever pace feels right. There is no pressure in either direction: some families wish to be present, and some prefer to remember their pet at home. Both are exactly right.
