The quieter half of Sunland-Tujunga
Sunland is the quieter half of Sunland-Tujunga — ranch homes and horse properties strung along Foothill Boulevard, gravel driveways, the Big Tujunga Wash on one side and the Verdugo Mountains on the other. Pets here don’t live small lives. They patrol fence lines, ride along to the feed store, doze under the old oaks at Sunland Park. When one of them passes, the goodbye deserves the same unhurried care.
Passing Paws provides pet cremation in Sunland and across Los Angeles County. We offer private cremation, communal cremation, and aquamation — a quieter, water-borne farewell — and we come to your home for pickup, so you never have to make that drive yourself.
We answer the phone from 8am to 8pm, every day of the week, at (626) 340-0000. Whether you’re planning ahead for an old dog or something happened this morning, a real person will pick up and walk you through exactly what happens next.
Every pet, every size
Built for the big dogs, gentle with the small ones
A lot of Sunland dogs are working-size — shepherds and livestock-guardian mixes with real room to run, some well past 100 pounds. Moving a large dog is the moment aftercare can start to feel undignified, so it’s the part we’re most careful about. Our staff handle all of the lifting and carrying themselves — gently, without rushing through your gate or down the porch steps. Dog cremation for Sunland families works the same whether your companion was a six-pound terrier or a Great Pyrenees.
The small ones matter just as much. We provide cat cremation and aftercare for birds, hamsters, rabbits, and other small companions with the same steadiness — every pet, every size.
Home pickup, however your land lies
Pickup on properties that don’t look like the suburbs
Homes here aren’t cookie-cutter: long unpaved driveways off Oro Vista, houses tucked up against the wash, gates that need a code, other animals on the property. When you call, tell us what to expect. We’ll follow your directions, close gates behind us, and keep things calm for any horses or dogs still at home.
If you’re choosing a goodbye at home rather than a final car ride to a clinic, in-home pet euthanasia in Sunland is available through Saving Grace Veterinary Services, a separate licensed veterinary practice. We coordinate the aftercare with them directly, so there’s no gap between their care and ours.

Fire, water, and the tag that proves it’s them
When a dog takes up the whole back seat, families quietly wonder whether the ashes that come home could really be theirs. With private cremation, there is no wondering: your pet is cremated individually, and a Cremation Identification Tag stays with them through the entire process, so the ashes returned are solely your pet’s. Pet aquamation uses warm water instead of flame; many families out here with a lifelong connection to the land find it a fitting, gentler option. Communal cremation — where ashes are not returned — is available for families who want respectful handling without keeping ashes.

Pricing for all three is flat and stated upfront, before you decide anything: $249 for communal cremation, $399 for private, $449 for aquamation — the same price for a barn cat as for a livestock guardian, with never a weight tier or weekend fee. The full breakdown is on our full flat-rate pricing page. No surprises later, no pressure in either direction.
The homecoming
The weeks after, and bringing them home
Ashes typically come home two to three weeks after pickup — and we do mean home. We return them to you in Sunland rather than asking you to come collect them.
Much of what families want to keep is already part of the service. Every private cremation includes an aromatic cedar urn, a clay paw print on a gold display stand, and a fur clipping at no extra cost — and aquamation includes the cedar urn and clay print as well. Beyond that, some families add more at pickup, while a paw is still there to press: additional clay prints ($50) or ink prints ($35) for the kids or the grandparents, memorial jewelry, or a biodegradable urn. Those last are a quiet favorite in this part of the foothills — on properties with land to spare, some families choose a resting spot under a backyard oak and want an urn that returns to the earth along with the ashes.
