A city of long walks and longer loyalties

Home pickup, to every Pasadena doorstep

Passing Paws brings home pickup and flat-rate pet cremation to every Pasadena neighborhood, typically arriving within two hours of your call. Pasadena is a city of long walks and longer loyalties — dogs who know every turn of the Arroyo Seco loop and the shade around the Rose Bowl, cats who have watched the seasons change from the porch of a Bungalow Heaven Craftsman. When a companionship like that ends, we come to you, wherever home is: a Madison Heights bungalow that has held the same family for thirty years, a rental near Caltech or PCC, a quiet street in the blocks near the Huntington, a hillside home in Linda Vista or San Rafael above the Arroyo.

We answer the phone from 8am to 8pm, every day, at (626) 340-0000, and you can book online any time at app.passingpaws.com/book. When our staff arrive, they carry your pet to our vehicle themselves — you never need to lift anything, arrange anything, or drive anywhere.

A short phone call, first

If your pet passed at a clinic or at home

If your pet passed at a veterinary clinic in Pasadena, call us at (626) 340-0000 and we'll walk you through your options. Every clinic handles aftercare a little differently, and in a hard moment it isn't always clear what your choices are — so the simplest step is a short phone call. We'll listen, explain what's possible in your situation, and lay out our flat prices before you decide anything.

And if your pet passes at home — as many do, quietly, in a favorite spot — our guide at /when-your-pet-dies-at-home walks you gently through the first few hours. There is no deadline and no rush. Call when you're ready.

Flat and published

What does pet cremation cost in Pasadena?

Our prices are flat and published: communal cremation is $249, private cremation is $399, and aquamation is $449 — the same price for a hamster as for a hundred-pound dog.

Communal cremation
$249

Pets are cremated together, and ashes are not returned.

Private cremation
$399
Ashes come home

Includes home pickup, a Cremation Identification Tag, an aromatic cedar urn, a clay paw print on a gold display stand, a fur clipping, and hand delivery of the ashes to your door.

Aquamation
$449

A gentle, water-based alternative that includes the same cedar urn and clay paw print on its gold display stand.

There are no weight fees, no weekend surcharges, no mileage charges for coming out from Glendale, and no add-ons that appear afterward — the number you hear when you call is the number you pay, by card, Zelle, check, or cash. Additional clay paw prints are $50 and ink prints are $35, if brothers, sisters, or grandparents each want their own. Every number is published at /pet-cremation-cost, and if you're weighing water against flame, /aquamation-vs-cremation explains the difference in plain English.

A straight answer

Where does my pet actually go?

Your pet stays in our care from your doorstep until the day we hand the ashes back. We believe Pasadena families deserve a straight answer here, because it's the question most people are afraid to ask. We are not a crematorium ourselves. The cremation itself happens at the crematorium we work with: our own team takes your pet there, and our own team receives them back. Ashes are never shipped, mailed, or handed to a courier.

The full process typically takes two to three weeks from pickup. When the ashes are ready, we don't ask you to come and collect them — a member of our team schedules a time and hand-delivers them to your door, whether that's off Lake Avenue or at the top of Hastings Ranch.

When the last hour belongs at home

A goodbye at home, if that feels right

In-home euthanasia in Pasadena is available through Saving Grace Veterinary Services — a separate licensed veterinary practice we work alongside — for $450 plus a travel fee. For a dog whose whole world was a Craftsman porch and the morning walk to the Rose Bowl, many families feel the last hour belongs at home, not in a waiting room. Their veterinarian comes to you and lets the goodbye take exactly as long as it needs. Afterward, if you choose, Passing Paws continues the care from that same doorstep. You can read how it works at /in-home-pet-euthanasia.

Where does my pet actually go after you pick them up?
