The reason we exist

Why does Passing Paws exist?

Passing Paws exists because the people who built it have hands-on backgrounds in pet aftercare and mobile veterinary euthanasia work — and watched families sit through goodbyes that felt cold, confusing, and engineered to add charges. We watched grieving owners face shifting quotes, add-on lists at the worst moment of their week, and ashes that traveled home through couriers and shipping labels, as if a family member were a package.

So we built the company we wished existed. One with flat, honest prices published for everyone to see. One where a small team handles every step of the care ourselves. One where your pet’s ashes come home in our hands, not in the mail.

Your pet’s ashes come home in our hands — not in the mail.
The promise underneath everything

Who answers

Who answers when you call?

Call (626) 340-0000 between 8am and 8pm — any day of the week — and you’ll reach Passing Paws. We’re a small team, and we handle every step ourselves, from the first conversation to the day we bring your pet’s ashes home, so the person you speak with can tell you plainly what happens next. If it’s the middle of the night, you can schedule online anytime and we’ll follow up first thing.

We stay small on purpose. It keeps every goodbye personal — the questions you ask are answered by people who do this work with their own hands, and your pet stays in our care from pickup until their ashes are back at your door.

Our background

Where does our experience come from?

Our experience comes from hands-on backgrounds in pet aftercare and mobile veterinary euthanasia work. We have stood quietly in living rooms during final goodbyes. We have carried pets out of homes wrapped in their favorite blankets. We have handled every step of the care that follows — which is exactly why we knew, in detail, what needed to change.

That background shapes small things you’ll notice and big things you won’t. It’s why we move slowly and speak plainly. It’s why we never rush a family out of a room. And it’s why, for private cremation, an identification tag stays with your pet through every single step, so the ashes that come home are theirs and only theirs.

How we work

How do we work?

We come to you, care for your pet ourselves, and return the ashes to your door by hand — from the first call to the homecoming, the same small team the whole way.

  1. We come to you

At your door within two hours

When you call, we can typically be at your home — or your veterinarian’s office — within two hours.
  2. In our care

    Your pet rides with us

We care for your pet ourselves. Your pet rides with us, not with a transport service, and stays in our hands the whole way.
  3. The homecoming

    Home by hand, never shipped

When the ashes are ready, usually two to three weeks later, one of us drives them back and places them in your hands personally. We never ship ashes, and we never hand them to a courier.

We care for pets of every size, from small birds and hamsters to dogs over one hundred pounds, for families across Los Angeles County.

What we believe

What do we believe?

We believe cost should never decide how much dignity a goodbye receives. That’s why every price is flat and published: communal cremation is $249, private cremation is $399, and aquamation — a gentle, water-based alternative to flame — is $449. Private cremation and aquamation each include a clay paw print with a gold display stand.

Communal
$249

Cremated together; ashes are not returned

Private
$399

Cremated alone; ashes come home, with a clay paw print & gold stand

Aquamation
$449

A gentle, water-based alternative to flame; clay paw print & gold stand

There are no weekend fees, no weight-based pricing, no mileage charges, and no hidden costs of any kind. The price we quote on your first call is the price you pay — always.

Grief is heavy enough without a surprise on the invoice.

Our promise

Our promise to your family

Our promise is simple: your pet will be treated as one of our own, and you will never be pressured, upsold, or hurried.

What we promise you
  • Treated as one of our own — your pet is cared for the way we would want ours to be
  • Never pressured, upsold, or hurried — at any step, in any moment
  • Told plainly what happens at every step of the care
  • Every question answered — including the hard ones
  • Brought home to you ourselves — your companion, back in your hands
