Where the peacocks have the right of way
Peacocks have the right of way in Arcadia. They drift out of the Los Angeles County Arboretum, cross Baldwin Avenue on their own schedule, and roost in front-yard oaks from the Highlands down to Baldwin Stocker. A city that makes this much room for animals is naturally full of people who love them deeply — and who want the goodbye, when it comes, handled with real care.
Passing Paws provides pet cremation for Arcadia families: private cremation, communal cremation, and pet aquamation for those drawn to a gentler farewell by water. We're based in Glendale, and we sometimes hear from families on this end of the foothills who assume that puts them out of reach. It doesn't. Arcadia sits comfortably inside our Los Angeles County service area, and the 210 makes it a direct drive — our staff come to your home, and you never have to drive anywhere.
We answer the phone from 8am to 8pm, every day of the week. When you call, a real person listens first, then walks you through your options at whatever pace you need — with pricing laid out plainly before you decide anything.
From Glendale to Arcadia
The Drive Is Ours, Not Yours
Home pickup works the same in Arcadia as it does anywhere else we serve: you call, we come to you, and we carry your pet into our care ourselves. That's true whether you're in Santa Anita Village near Santa Anita Park, south of Live Oak Avenue, or up a foothill street by the Arcadia Wilderness Park where the driveways climb. There are no extra steps and nothing special to arrange because of the distance — Arcadia is simply part of the area we serve, and the 210 corridor is a route we know well.
You stay home · we come to youEvery size, every companion
Room for Every Pet in the Community of Homes
Arcadia calls itself a Community of Homes, and its pets live full lives here — dogs who logged years of morning walks past the Arboretum gates, cats who eyed the peacocks warily from the windowsill, old companions who napped through whole summers of Santa Anita race days. We care for pets of every size, from a parakeet on a perch to a shepherd mix nudging 120 pounds. Dog cremation in Arcadia often means a big dog with a big yard, and we make sure everyone in the household has the time and space to say goodbye before pickup.
Flame or water, private or shared
Choices the Whole Family Can Agree On: Fire, Water, Private, Shared
When the whole household has a say, it helps that the choices are simple to explain around one table. If your family chooses private cremation, your pet is cremated individually, and the ashes that come home are theirs alone — a Cremation Identification Tag travels with them from pickup to return, so there is never a question about whose ashes you receive. Communal cremation is a shared option in which ashes are not returned; some families find it is the right fit for them. Aquamation uses water instead of flame — a quieter, gentler process that a growing number of families ask for by name.
A shared option; ashes are not returned
Cremated individually; the ashes are theirs alone
A gentle, water-based alternative to flame
Whichever option includes the return of ashes, expect them home about two to three weeks after pickup. The costs are just as easy to settle at that same table: communal cremation is a flat $249, private cremation is $399, and aquamation is $449 — the same price for every pet, every size, with no weight tiers and no hidden fees. Every detail is published in our full flat-rate pricing, so nothing about the cost is ever a surprise.
When the goodbye is at home
If the Goodbye Happens at Home
Some families choose in-home pet euthanasia in Arcadia so their pet's last hours are spent somewhere familiar — a bed by the window, a patch of backyard shade. That service is provided through Saving Grace Veterinary Services, a separate licensed veterinary practice, and we're glad to explain how it works when you call. Afterward, Passing Paws handles everything that follows, including cat cremation and dog cremation, without anyone in the family needing to leave the house.
And when the ashes come home, they arrive with keepsakes already included: every private cremation comes with an aromatic cedar urn, a clay paw print on a gold display stand, and a fur clipping, and aquamation includes the cedar urn and clay paw print as well — at no added cost. Families who'd like more to hold can add extra clay prints ($50) or ink prints ($35), memorial jewelry, or a biodegradable urn for a garden resting place.
