At home, your pet’s last moments happen in the place they know best — their bed, their yard, their favorite patch of afternoon sun — surrounded by the people they love. There’s no car ride, no cold exam table, no waiting room full of strangers. For pets who find the clinic frightening, and for families who want time and privacy, an at-home goodbye is often the gentlest choice.
Home also makes room for the whole family. Children can say goodbye in their own way, at their own pace, and other pets in the household can be present — many families find this helps their animals understand and settle in the days that follow.

You make a single call to Passing Paws at (626) 340-0000, and we arrange both the veterinary visit and everything that comes after. The euthanasia itself is performed by Saving Grace Veterinary Services, a separate licensed veterinary practice we work alongside — we coordinate the appointment for you, so you never have to call around or repeat your story while you’re grieving.

What happens during the visit
During the visit, the veterinarian from Saving Grace Veterinary Services comes to your home and explains each step in plain language before anything begins. Your pet stays wherever they’re most comfortable — their bed, the couch, your lap.
In-home visits typically begin with a sedative, so your pet can rest calm and comfortable before anything else happens. The veterinarian will walk your family through what to expect and answer every question, and when we arrange your appointment we can talk through exactly how the visit will unfold for your pet.
Because you’re in your own home, there’s no waiting room and no clock — your family can take time together before and after.
Afterward, already in hand
What happens after your pet passes
Soon after your pet passes, our Passing Paws team arrives with everything already arranged — there is no second phone call to make and nothing left to organize. We bring your pet into our care with the tenderness they deserve, and the aftercare you chose on that first call is already in motion.
If you’ve chosen private cremation or aquamation, a cremation identification tag stays with your pet through every step, so the ashes that come home are theirs alone. Both include a clay paw print with a gold display stand as a keepsake. When everything is complete, we hand-deliver your pet’s ashes back to your home ourselves — never shipped, never handed to a courier — typically within 2 to 3 weeks. With communal cremation, pets are cremated together with other beloved companions, and ashes are not returned.

- Can they rest comfortably, or does pain keep breaking through even with medication?
- Do they still greet you, still care about the small things they always loved?

What does in-home euthanasia cost?
In-home euthanasia is $450, plus a travel fee based on your location — so you can total the exact cost yourself before you ever call. No weekend fees, no weight-based pricing, no surprises.
The travel fee depends on where home is. It is set and collected by Saving Grace Veterinary Services, the licensed practice that performs the visit:

Cremation is priced separately, so you only pay for what you choose:

The euthanasia fee and travel fee are collected by Saving Grace Veterinary Services at the time of the visit — Passing Paws never takes payment for the veterinary portion. Cremation is billed separately by Passing Paws; we accept card payments, Zelle, checks, and cash.
